Romeo and Juliet
To complete 7th grade's Renaissance lit circles, we are learning about Shakespeare, his plays and verse. Students are experiencing the Bard's witty word play, poetics, and characterization. They

Fishbowl Discussion
Students shared about main character, predicted problem-solving plot events, and discussed Renaissance cultural elements referenced in their novels. Because at any given moment, a representative from each of the novels was present in the fishbowl, students learned about historical fiction beyond their own lit circle novel.

Renaissance Lit Circles
Lit circles are underway with students reading and discussing historical fiction. Each of the novels includes characters from history in the fictional story--Magellan, Joan of Arc, the Medici family and Botticelli and more.
